Showing Up for Pride: How PRC Celebrated Community, Visibility & Solidarity

Pride Month reminds us that visibility and solidarity matter—and at PRC, we’re proud to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community not just in June, but all year long. This Pride Month, our staff showed up in numerous ways, raising flags, decorating spaces, hosting meaningful activities, and standing with our community.
Raising the Flag
We kicked off Pride Month by raising the rainbow progress flag high above our building. It’s more than a symbol—it’s a promise that Pride lives here, in our daily work and our unwavering commitment to inclusion. Thank you to Erik Lauritzen and Manuel Ochoa Valle for keeping this tradition alive.

Learning & Sharing Through ASL
Workforce Development’s Dorothea Tolliver shared some Pride phrases in American Sign Language, helping us learn new ways to express our support and expand inclusion through accessible communication.
A Splash of Pride Inside
Our Integrated Services Center at 170 9th Street got a colorful makeover. Rainbow flags, crafts, and bright decorations greeted everyone with warmth and joy, creating an atmosphere of belonging the moment you walk through our doors.

Stories on Screen: Reel Pride
For three Wednesdays, staff gathered for our “Reel Pride” lunchtime series, watching excerpts from films and shows focused on LGBTQIA+ voices and stories—like Sort Of, Heartstopper, and Major! A special thanks to SF HIV Frontline Organizing Group (FOG) Communications Coordinator Althea Karwowski for curating this space for reflection, dialogue, and queer joy.

Showing Our Colors
On ‘Show Your Pride Day’, HQ turned into a rainbow runway! Staff wore their best Pride-inspired outfits and shared a colorful spread of treats. Desks were decked out with Pride-themed decorations, filling our workspaces with color, love, and connection.

Hands-On Solidarity: The Pink Triangle
Staff joined hundreds of volunteers to install the iconic Pink Triangle on Twin Peaks—an act of remembrance and resistance that has become a beacon of Pride over San Francisco. Afterwards, our team gathered for a well-earned brunch, extending the spirit of community and connection.

Tabling at the Trans March
At the San Francisco Trans March—one of the largest trans-led events in the country—PRC proudly showed up to stand in solidarity. Our table at Dolores Park offered connection, resources, a poster-making station, and a fun spin-the-wheel game that brought smiles to so many faces. Shoutout to Lauren Vega and Jasmine Conley from Workforce Development for creating a warm and affirming space.
As Lauren told Mission Local:
“We’ve had a lot of young trans kids today,” she says. She was working late last night, taping wooden sticks to poster boards to create blank signs. “I can finally breathe now and let everybody enjoy it.”

This Pride Month, our community spirit was on full display. Thank you to every PRC staff member and volunteer who helped make it so special—and to our LGBTQIA+ community: we see you, we support you, and we’re so glad you’re here.
What better way to wrap up Pride Month than with a splash of laser light and a dance with Karl the Fog? Thanks to Illuminate, San Francisco’s skyline got an extra dose of rainbow magic this year. Check out this mesmerizing time-lapse and relive the glow!
