Patty Thayer

Patricia (Patty) Thayer is a Vice President in the Legal Department at Gilead Sciences, Inc.  Her legal team at Gilead focuses on global protection and enforcement of intellectual property.  She joined Gilead in 2017 after spending more than thirty years at several international law firms, including most recently  Sidley Austin LLP, acting as trial counsel for biotech, medical device and pharmaceutical companies in U.S. patent and trademark litigation.  She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Child Care Law Center.  Before specializing in patent litigation in 1984, Patty was a Legal Advisor in the U.S. State Department and fulfilled a fellowship at the Center for Law in the Public Interest in Los Angeles.  Patty graduated from Harvard University, with a major in History of Science, and holds a JD from Harvard Law School.
