BP – HR Generalist in Compliance and Benefits

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Human Resources Generalist is primarily responsible for compliance and managing employee data using HRIS.  The role will also have a focus on Benefits, Leave Coordination and Safety Administration. The Human Resources Generalist will also provide on-going support in all areas of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department

SALARY: of $31.25 – $34.60, Non-exempt, DOE/DOQ

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manage Employee Data and Records

  • Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems
  • Maintain records and compile reports concerning employment data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, compensation changes and terminations
  • Optimize and support self-service portal access, including providing training for new users
  • Respond to information requests regarding employee records
  • Ensure hard copy employment files are maintained accurately and as required by law
  • Perform audits of records

Benefits Administration

  • Coordinate and manage enrollments with all benefit, life and retirement plans
  • Facilitate employee benefit orientations and open enrollment events
  • Respond to benefit inquires, disability and unemployment claims
  • Audit and reconcile monthly bills
  • Ensure compliance with evolving regulations under ACA and other related regulations

Leave Coordination

  • Manage and track Leaves for FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA and WC
  • Send appropriate notices and provide guidance to employees on their rights and responsibilities
  • Support modified duty and accommodation requests

 Safety and Workers Comp Administration

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Illness and Injury Prevention Program and maintain OSHA logs
  • Document and process workers comp and vehicle accidents claims
  • Investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers
  • Facilitate and document required safety trainings

Other HR Generalist Duties

  • Support retention efforts by promoting employee engagement
  • Provide back-up support to Recruitment and Employee Relations
  • Provide guidance to management and staff on organizational policies, collective bargaining agreement and local, state and federal regulations
  • Provide administrative support as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience as principle Benefits Administrator
  • 3 years of experience with HRIS (ADP preferred), including reporting and analyzing data
  • 3-5 years of experience administrating leave of absences, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, WC and ADA
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws/ordinances
  • Experience administering Workers Compensation benefits and safety administration
  • Must have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Model appropriate confidentiality and personal boundaries in all dealings
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
